It’s officially the countdown to extinction for DINOSAUR and the remaining bits of DinoLand USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and the rest of DinoLand USA will close on February 2, 2026 as Disney builds the new Tropical Americas land.
Once Restaurantosaurus closes on February 2, its menu items will shift over to Harambe Market in early 2026. Harambe Market will go through a refurbishment this winter to prepare for the change. As for the characters currently meeting in DinoLand USA (Donald, Daisy, and Chip & Dale), they’ll move to other areas in Animal Kingdom. No details on where that will be yet.
We’ve already seen Disney working on the Encanto ride for the Tropical Americas land. But, we expect things to shift into overdrive once DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus close. DINOSAUR will become a new Indiana Jones experience, while Restaurantosaurus will be a new rethemed quick service location.
As sad as we are to see DinoLand USA close, we’re cautiously optimistic about the Tropical Americas land. The Encanto attraction has an opportunity to be something really special. The rethemed DINOSAUR into Indiana Jones should be awesome – especially if it’s anything like Disneyland’s attraction. We just wish Disney would have an animal exhibit or two (capybaras!), but that seems highly unlikely.
The Tropical Americas is targeted to open in 2027.
