Rumor: The Walt Disney World Railroad might be closed for as long as 2 years

The Walt Disney World Railroad closed recently as construction for the new TRON coaster begins near the tracks in Tomorrowland. Guests can now get an up-close look at one of the trains that’s parked in the Main Street Station at the front of the Magic Kingdom.

But how long should we expect the Walt Disney World Railroad to be closed? A report from the cast members at the Main Street Station suggests it could be closed for as long as two years.

It’s important to remember that Disney hasn’t officially announced when the train will reopen. At this time, all we know is that the TRON construction will take place around the tracks in Tomorrowland and that the new coaster isn’t expected to open until 2021.

Looking at the concept art, it appears that the TRON building will sit over the railroad tracks. That would explain a potentially lengthy closure.

Stay tuned for more updates on the changes coming to Tomorrowland.
