Video: The installation of the new pylons at Epcot’s main entrance

Updated:

A blast from the past was recently installed at Epcot’s main entrance. Three large acrylic pylons were added to the fountain area that sits near Spaceship Earth by the front gate. These pylons call back to how the area originally looked when Epcot opened back in 1982.

Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley posted a great video and some fun information about the pylons to Instagram.

We knew the pylons were large, but we wouldn’t have guessed that each one is over 4,000 pounds!

The reintroduction of the pylons comes as the transformation of Epcot’s main entrance draws to a close. The Leave a Legacy monoliths are a distant memory, the landscaping is in place and outside of the final work on the fountain, the area has reopened to guests.
