The ending of Fantasmic! at Hollywood Studios features a triumphant Mickey Mouse on top of the mountain, conducting a series of fountains and fireworks. It’s a great scene, but a show in 2018 suffered a major problem as Mickey’s head came off.
Warning – Don’t watch the video below if you don’t want to spoil the magic. Consider it Not Safe for Magic.
The original post on Twitter:
Il a du avoir très peur… Éloignez les jeunes enfants : Mickey a eu un accident hier soir pendant #Fantasmic à #WaltDisneyWorld. Sa tête a failli tomber pendant la scène finale, alors qu'il était en train de faire des tours de magie. Il s'en est fallu de peu ! 😳 pic.twitter.com/fEEDInun1A

The Tweet above, which is in French, is loosely translated by Microsoft (so take it for what it’s worth) to say:
“He must have been very scared… Keep young children away: Mickey had an accident last night during #Fantasmic at #WaltDisneyWorld. His head almost fell during the final scene, while he was doing magic tricks. It took a little! ????”
Thankfully, Mickey’s head didn’t fall all the way down the mountain, but it did take some time for the cast member to correct the situation. Clearly, something was wrong with how the head was secured.
