Disney has announced that they are creating a new business to develop residential communities around the country. Storyliving by Disney will create new communities that are organized by Disney and contain the level of service associated with the Disney brand.

The first community will be built in Coachella Valley in Rancho Mirage, California. Disney will partner with real estate developers and home builders for the community, while Walt Disney Imagineering will be involved in the overall planning.
Disney has previously explored this concept with the Golden Oak properties and even Celebration, Florida. Golden Oak is home to high-end homes situated on Walt Disney World property. Celebration was master-planned by Disney to be a perfect community, but Disney eventually dissolved its involvement.
