The Maleficent dragon is returning to the Festival of Fantasy Parade

Updated:

The star of the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom is returning! The Maleficent dragon is expected to return to the parade on January 25, 2019 for the first time since she caught fire back in May 2018.

Walt Disney World announced the return with a short video.

Disney mentions that the dragon float has had a bit of work done to “keep her in check” during the show. That’s a nice spot of humor from Disney after videos of the float catching fire last year went viral.

In case you missed it, here’s video showing the head and neck of the float consumed in fire.

It’s great to see one of the best parade floats Disney has ever made returning to action. There was a lot of concern that the float would be retired, or that the fire element would be removed, following the incident last year.

Assuming everything goes according to plan, you can watch her blow fire in the Festival of Fantasy Parade daily at the Magic Kingdom.
