The Hall of Presidents closes for refurbishment at the Magic Kingdom

The Hall of Presidents is now listed as “closed for refurbishment” at the Magic Kingdom. The notice popped up shortly after midnight eastern time on the day of Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Below is the announcement on Walt Disney World’s website.

Traditionally, Disney will close this attraction to work on the new animatronic for the incoming President. The new President records a statement that’s used during the final portion of the show.

Rumors have popped up in recent weeks suggesting Disney may retheme the attraction and introduce characters from The Muppets. The idea was Disney would retain the core of the show but add Muppets as narrators to diffuse some of the political divisiveness. It’s an interesting idea that’s still a rumor until Disney says otherwise.

Disney has not made an official statement or discussed the refurbishment as of the date of this article. A reopening date has not been posted at this time.
