The Disney Skyliner will officially open September 29, 2019

The Disney Skyliner will officially open on September 29, 2019 at Walt Disney World. The brand new transportation system has always been targeted for a Fall 2019 opening, but the official date landing in late September still feels a bit surprising.

Disney released a video to announce the opening date:

Most assumed that the Disney Skyliner would be operational for guests well ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on August 29. It’s still possible that a portion of the system will be up and running before the September 29 date, but Disney is marking that time as when the full Disney Skyliner system will be operating.

With testing continuing, construction walls coming down and cast members training, what’s holding up the Disney Skyliner? The area around the station at Epcot’s International Gateway still has a lot of work left before it can welcome large groups of guests. That area in particular still looks like a construction site thanks to massive changes that are being made to accommodate the larger number of guests brought to the entrance via the Skyliner.

Once open, the Disney Skyliner will transform a large portion of the transportation scene at Walt Disney World. The lines will connect two theme parks and four resorts with a quick and efficient mode of transportation.
