Smoke briefly fills the PeopleMover ramp, attractions reopen after fire crew inspection

Date:

Guests were temporarily evacuated from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover and the Astro Orbiter at the Magic Kingdom after smoke was seen near the automated ramp. The smoke, which was surprisingly thick in nature and filled the area, was well documented by guests on social media.

Local fire department crews were dispatched to the scene to investigate. Details of their findings haven’t been released and it’s unclear what was causing the white/gray smoke in the area. Following their inspection, both attractions reopened to guests. The automated ramp remained in a stationary position after guests were invited back to the attractions.

This was a strange scene in Tomorrowland. Guests wildly speculated about a significant fire in the area, but the color of the smoke and the fire department inspection suggests whatever happened was a minor incident. Both attractions are expected to operate normally moving forward.
