The refurbishment of the Tomorrowland PeopleMover has been extended once again

The refurbishment of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover has been extended once again at the Magic Kingdom. Originally listed as reopening on January 9, 2021, the attraction’s reopening has been bumped back to at least January 30, 2021.

The PeopleMover’s reopening date has been pushed back repeatedly over the past several months. The iconic Magic Kingdom attraction failed to welcome back guests when the park reopened back in July 2020. Since then, the refurbishment calendar has been extended gradually each time the alleged reopening date nears.

Disney has not provided an explanation for the lengthy closure. However, reports indicated there was an issue with the motors and the pandemic made securing new parts difficult. Crews have been spotted testing the ride vehicles over the past couple weeks, but it appears more time is needed.

To be safe, guests shouldn’t assume the PeopleMover will reopen on its next scheduled date. Hopefully Disney will have this relaxing journey through Tomorrowland back up and running soon.
