Refurbishment of the Tomorrowland PeopleMover updated to last through December 26, 2020

Updated:

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at the Magic Kingdom might be closed a lot longer than originally expected. Walt Disney World’s official calendar has been updated to list the attraction as “Closed for Refurbishment” through December 26, 2020.

The iconic attraction at the Magic Kingdom did not resume operating when the park welcomed back guests in July. Since that time, Disney has made multiple calendar updates that have pushed the reopening back from October, on to November and now to December.

Disney has not officially said why the Tomorrowland PeopleMover has seen such an extended downtime. Reports have suggested that the track’s motors are being replaced and sourcing the proper parts has been difficult due to the ongoing pandemic.

The Tomorrowland PeopleMover is a peaceful, relaxing and fun ride that’s rooted in Disney history. We believe it’s one of the most underrated attractions at the Magic Kingdom, but its popularity has surged as more guests realize that it’s a perfect break from the chaos and heat of Walt Disney World.

We hope Disney will able to reopen the Tomorrowland PeopleMover as soon as possible. You never know, maybe Stitch will get to take the first ride?
