Disney has reportedly started informing cast members who are currently furloughed that their furlough will extend longer than anticipated. According to Blog Mickey, cast members at Disney Parks are being notified that their furloughs are continuing indefinitely until more normal operations resume.
The notification from Disney states that they hope the furloughs will “remain temporary” and business will pick back up soon. However, this announcement comes as Walt Disney World’s operating hours are shortened, indicating things are still a ways off from normal.
This news comes alongside another report about Disney’s executives resuming their normal salaries. The executives had previously taken varying cuts in the wake of COVID-19, citing they wouldn’t resume until normalcy returned. This sounded encouraging, but the latest information on cast member furloughs indicates a rocky road ahead.
