‘EPCOT Forever’ Will Likely Return After ‘Harmonious’ Ends

EPCOT is once again changing up their nighttime spectaculars. Disney announced during the D23 Expo 2022 that a new nighttime show was coming to EPCOT in 2023 for the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company.

Disney did not mention when the new show will debut outside of saying late 2023. However, it has been reported that Harmonious, EPCOT’s current show, will wrap up at the end of Walt Disney World’s 50th celebration in March 2023. That indicates there will once again be a sizable gap as the torch is passed from one EPCOT spectacular to another.

Cue EPCOT Forever!

EPCOT Forever will reportedly bridge the gap between the ending of Harmonious and the debut of the new show. This is familiar territory for EPCOT Forever as it played a similar role between the closure of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth and the debut of Harmonious.

When EPCOT Forever does return, it will be the version that doesn’t feature the fun kites pulled by jet skis. We saw this kite-free version of EPCOT Forever in 2021 when fireworks shows initially returned to Walt Disney World.

What do we know about EPCOT’s new show? Not much. It’s believed Disney will scrap the large taco-shaped barges (good riddance), but that remains to be seen. The massive barges were a significant financial expense, and it’s not confirmed that Disney will walk away from that investment so quickly.

We anticipate Disney will release the announcement about EPCOT Forever – and maybe some information on the upcoming new show – when we get closer to 2023.
