Walt Disney World has finally revealed their new annual pass system. Sales of new annual passes will resume September 8, 2021 as Disney introduces the new system.
The new annual pass system will have four levels. Theme park parking remains free for all annual passholders, but PhotoPass downloads now carry an additional cost. All passes will include park hopping and up to 20% savings on select merchandise and dining.

New add-ons for annual passes include the Water Park and Sports package and PhotoPass downloads. Each add-on is $99 for the duration of your pass. The Water Park and Sports package used to be reserved for the highest Platinum Plus pass, but it will now be offered as an extra to all pass levels.
Current annual passholders don’t need to immediately switch to the new system. Existing passholders can continue to use their pass until they reach their renewal period. Then, they’ll switch into the new system at a discounted price.
We were honestly expecting more changes, but this sounds very similar to the old system except with the PhotoPass perk removed. The overall summary is the new passes carry a larger price with more theme park reservation slots.
It is worth keeping in mind that blackout dates – or the lack of blackout dates – do not guarantee entrance to a theme park. Theme park reservations are essentially blackout dates by a different name, and may prevent passholders from entering the parks during peak times.
