Things look a lot different at Epcot’s International Gateway. The turnstiles and awnings have been completely demolished and the area barely resembles what guests have become accustomed to when entering from the Epcot Resort Area.
Thanks to Martin Smith, we have some outstanding photos showing just how different the area looks.
The awning on the right side for the Friendship boats is the last one still standing at the International Gateway.
Disney is overhauling this area ahead of the opening of the Disney Skyliner and the large volume of guests who will soon use this area as their primary entrance into Epcot. Once completed, the Disney Skyliner station will sit just to the side of the International Gateway and will connect Epcot to Hollywood Studios, Caribbean Beach Resort, the new Riviera Resort, Pop Century Resort and the Art of Animation Resort.
Currently, we haven’t seen any plans or details about what this area will look like after the construction is finished. However, we expect all of the work to be completed ahead of the opening of the Disney Skyliner this fall and the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the end of August.
