It’s once again time to check out the progress on TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom. The coaster’s canopy has quickly taken shape in recent weeks, with workers installing and inflating the canopy’s panels.
The always awesome @bioreconstruct snapped a photo of the progress from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.

It looks like about half of the inflated panels have been installed on the canopy. Once complete, the canopy will give TRON Lightcycle Run its signature bright white appearance during the day. At night, the canopy will be illuminated in blue and a variety of transitioning colors.
We can look at the photo below from Shanghai Disneyland to see how TRON Lightcycle Run will look like at night at the Magic Kingdom.
We’re eager for the exterior of TRON Lightcycle Run to be complete as it should pave the way for the return of the Walt Disney World Railroad. The train tracks will pass under the canopy once construction is finished. The Railroad has been closed since December 2018 to allow for TRON’s construction.
When will guests be able to ride TRON Lightcycle Run? Disney hasn’t announced an opening date at this time. They’ve only said TRON Lightcycle Run is “coming soon” when discussing future plans. However, we saw coaster cars for TRON being delivered back in February.
We’d wager Disney is completely focused on opening and marketing Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in Summer 2022. That leaves TRON on the backburner for what might be a 2023 opening.
