Beauty and the Beast lounge coming to the Grand Floridian Resort

Updated:

Disney has officially announced that the Grand Floridian Resort will be receiving a Beauty and the Beast Lounge in the near future.

Set to open in Fall 2019, Mizner’s Lounge and Commander Porter’s will be transformed into a brand new location that leans heavily into Beauty and the Beast theming. The remodeled area will have four distinct locations that each tie into elements from the iconic film.

Disney outlined the four spaces:

“The signature bar will glow from the light of a magnificent gold chandelier that takes its inspiration from Belle’s flowing ball gown, with subtle nods to the Beast’s magical rose. The formal library showcases classical baroque designs and French furnishings inspired by Belle, with hints of the Beast’s friends. The garden room will be a whimsical space that draws its inspiration from the enchanted forest surrounding Beast’s castle. And an outdoor patio will evoke the romance of Beast’s garden terrace.”

When we first discussed the rumor at the end of March, some were worried that Disney was making a poor decision by bringing Beauty and the Beast theming into an adult lounge. Those fears have been mostly put to rest thanks to this concept art that depicts a classy and elegant new space.

Disney has been trying to strike a new balance in how it infuses its intellectual properties into its many spaces. For example, it’s interesting that this location and Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge have received an injection of Disney theming while the recent room refurbishments at several resorts (such as Pop Century) have nearly stripped out any theming. It seems that Disney is loading its theming into public spaces while using a more subtle approach in guest rooms.
