Disney Cruise Line has revealed some fascinating updates about the new ships set to join its fleet in the years ahead. After Disney is finished building the Disney Destiny and its fourth Wish-class ship, they’re going to start a new class of ships that are a bit smaller.
These three new ships will arrive between 2029 and 2031, and will hold an estimated 3,000 passengers. These ships will be closer to the size of the Magic-class ships than the Dream or Wish-class ships.
NEW: Disney Cruise Line confirms the four ships coming 2027-2031 will include one Wish-class ship in 2027 followed by three ships in a new class with a capacity of 3,000 passengers. The news was first reported by SeatradeCruise.

For reference, the 3,000 passenger capacity is significantly smaller than the 4,000ish capacity on the Wish-class ships, but a bit larger than the 2,700ish capacity of the Disney Magic and Wonder.
This new class of ships will be about 20% larger than the Magic-class ships.
The new class of 3 ships coming 2029-2031 will be 100,000gt – smaller than Wish/Dream classes, bigger than Wonder and Magic. SeatradeCruise is also reporting the ships will run on a variety of fuels and be among the most energy efficient in the industry. www.seatrade-cruise.com/shipbuilding…

Disney Cruise Line’s plan to shift back to smaller ships reveals some of their intentions for the years ahead. The Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder are both closing in on their 30-year anniversaries, and Disney is likely planning for their replacements. They haven’t announced retirement dates for either ship yet, but the days are numbered.
These smaller ships will allow Disney Cruise Line to continue visiting destinations where the larger ships can’t navigate, such as the Alaskan itineraries. We imagine one of these ships will directly take over the Disney Wonder’s schedule.
We look forward to Disney Cruise Line scaling back and, hopefully, returning to some of its ideas that have been a big hit with guests. Our wish list for the new class include a full walking track (not the abomination that is the Wish-class track layout), and adult areas that don’t feel like an afterthought.
