Costume ideas for Pirate Night on Disney Cruise Line

Pirate Night is one of the most popular events that regularly takes place on select trips aboard Disney Cruise Line. The night features a pirate-themed menu, special entertainment and the incredible Fireworks at Sea.

If you’re new to sailing with Disney Cruise Line, you may be surprised to learn that guests take Pirate Night pretty seriously. You’ll see families wearing full pirate costumes as they enjoy the night’s festivities. The pirate costumes and outfits range from clever t-shirts and bandanas to complete costumes that would give Jack Sparrow a run for his money.

You may feel a bit left out if you don’t participate, so here are some costume ideas that will help you embrace one of the great activities aboard Disney Cruise Line.

Pirate Bandanas

Every guest aboard a cruise that features Pirate Night will receive complimentary bandannas in their stateroom. These are great if you didn’t plan ahead or forgot your pirate apparel, but they’re not as fun as having something a bit more unique.

Pirate Shirts

Be honest – you’ve wanted to have your very own Puffy Shirt from Seinfeld ever since the episode aired back in 1993. Now it’s your turn to look like a pirate!

These shirts are the perfect complement for a costume intending to look like a genuine pirate. We personally saw quite a few families sporting shirts similar to these (the dads may have a bit too much fun becoming pirates) while walking around the Disney Dream.

Full Costumes

Want a one-stop pirate look? These full costumes might be the answer. Many guests will go for the complete look by piecing together items they have, but there’s also some who go for the full look by picking up something you may buy around Halloween.

Note: You shouldn’t bring imitation weapons with you on your cruise.

Clever Pirate T-Shirts

Some guests chose to take a creative spin on the idea of Pirate Night. We personally bought the “Trust Smee, I’m a Pirate” t-shirt with Peter Pan’s Smee because we thought it was too good to pass up. We also saw some guests wearing Pittsburgh Pirates t-shirts. Clever!

A pirate-themed t-shirt can be a comfortable alternative if you’re not interested in going all out.

Pirate Accessories

Can you really be a pirate without an eye patch? Or a parrot? There’s only one way to make those family photos extra special and that’s by going the extra mile with some pirate accessories.

There you have it. There’s a bunch of ideas to assist in your Pirate Night adventures.

Remember – Pirate Night is a swashbuckling good time even if you come in your normal clothes. It’s easier to plunder when you’re dressed for the part!
