Video: Disney Imagineering on the New Storytelling Window in Magic Kingdom

If you’ve been in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom recently, you might have noticed the silhouette of Ichabod Crane in one of the upper windows on the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. The subtle addition is being called a Storytelling Window by Disney, and it adds a fun bit of life to the space.

Walt Disney Imagineering shared a video discussing how they brought the Storytelling Window idea to life.

We love little touches like this. Sometimes the best additions are the ones that aren’t super flashy or noticeable, but instead help make the theme park feel lived in. Our lone critique is we’d suggest the lightning on Ichabod Crane needs to be softer to match the lighting seen in the other windows at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.

This effect is super simple – it’s just a couple screens – and it could be used in other areas around Magic Kingdom. Make sure you keep an eye out for Ichabod Crane the next time you’re in Liberty Square.
