More changes are coming to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. A new permit indicates Disney is planning to build a 5,530-square-foot building and a new retention pond in an area near the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool.
The new building and retention pond will sit on top of the area currently occupied by a sand volleyball court and playground. A satellite view of the area shows where the building and pond will go just south of the tennis courts and pool.
Disney hasn’t officially commented on the new building or what it will be used for at the resort. But, the permit comes as Disney is making other significant changes around Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
Disney is currently replacing all of the Fort Wilderness cabins with updated cabins that will join the Disney Vacation Club inventory. Based on the concept art, those cabins will abandon the rustic and outdoorsy vibes in favor of the more modern designs seen at other Disney resorts.
Other recent changes at Fort Wilderness Resort include the change of Trail’s End into a quick-service location. Thankfully, the beloved Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is still running and entertaining guests. May it live on forever!
