Disney has announced that work is going to begin in the near future to update several areas around Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. The refurbishment, which Disney is calling “enhancements”, will specifically touch on the hotel’s lobby and convention center. Work is expected to begin in April and last through November 2025.
Below is Disney’s announcement about the work as seen on the Disney Vacation Club website.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be receiving enhancements to select areas in phases, including the lobby and convention center, from April through November 2025. Guests may see and hear construction during daytime hours, and portions of the lobby will be closed at times. All pools and most resort dining and other amenities will remain available. Please allow extra time for travel, as path adjustments may be in place.

The lobby update at Disney’s Grand Floridian was originally announced all the way back in 2022. At that time Disney said the refreshed lobby would “maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.”
We’ve already seen several updates around Disney’s Grand Floridian over the past few years. The resort’s room were refurbished, new decor was added throughout many of the buildings, and the Spa received an extensive remodel. However, the lobby update was delayed.
Like many recent changes at Walt Disney World, the update to the Grand Floridian’s lobby has filled many Disney fans with anxiety. There’s a particular charm and warmth to the current lobby, and fans are worried Disney’s obsession over bland modernism may take over the space.
