Disney has announced that Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park at Walt Disney World will reopen on March 17, 2024. The water park has been closed for its annual refurbishment since November 2023. Once Typhoon Lagoon reopens, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will close for its annual refurbishment.
This updated operating schedule confirms that Disney is continuing the trend of only having one water park open at a time in Walt Disney World. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon haven’t been open at the same time since 2021.
Disney’s decision to only operate one water park at a time is a bit puzzling. The idea may have started out as a cost-savings decision, but it now seems strange to only have one of the water parks operating during the hot Florida summer months. Is the demand really not there or is Disney expecting to have trouble staffing both parks?
We hope Disney will eventually go back to having both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach open simultaneously. Not only would that give guests more options, but it’d also add more value to the Water Park Seasonal Pass ticket offering Disney has previously offered.
