The Ale & Compass Restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort recently made some changes to their menu. One of those changes involved removing the Continental Enhancement from its breakfast menu. Unfamiliar? We’ll explain what this old offering was and why we’re sad to see it go.
The Continental Enhancement included a breakfast entree, a non-alcoholic drink or juice, and a small buffet of yogurts, pastries, and cinnamon rolls. You could visit the mini buffet as much as you wanted. Loading up on the small Mickey Mouse cinnamon rolls was almost encouraged.
Depending on the price of the entree you selected, the Continental Enhancement ranged from a good deal to an amazing deal. On our last visit, the Continental Enhancement was $28. With some of the entrees priced around $20 and the juices priced at $5, it seemed like a no-brainer to give it a try.
We found that the Continental Enhancement gave a lot of food. The entrees themselves were large enough that we could have split them, and then the additional options from the buffet put it over the top. We enjoyed being able to have some yogurt without committing to a full-size order. The same can be said for the pastries. Overall, it felt like we were getting a good bang for the buck, which can be a rare feeling in Walt Disney World.
Now, Ale & Compass has removed the Continental Enhancement from the menu. Instead, they now offer the buffet items as side orders. You can order Continental Parfait and Fruit for $10 or a Danish Basket (Cinnamon Rolls, Fruit Danish, Assorted Mini Muffins) for $10. These new sides sound sharable, so the value may depend on the size of your party.
This isn’t the first time Ale & Compass has switched things up. The restaurant used to be home to a full buffet, but that disappeared years ago. It feels like Ale & Compass isn’t really sure what it wants to be. We wouldn’t be surprised to see things change again at some point in the future.
Does the removal of the Continental Enhancement change our opinion of Ale & Compass? Honestly, not really. It’s still a great place to eat and pretty underrated as far as resort dining is concerned. Ale & Compass remains a great option for breakfast if you’re staying at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, or another nearby hotel. It’s a non-character meal that offers high-quality food and great service at what’s still one of the better prices in Walt Disney World.
