Rejoice, Disney World water park fans! Disney has announced some surprising news that both Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be open this summer. Both water parks are scheduled to be open May 21 through September 7, 2025.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach will still close for its scheduled refurbishment on April 30, but will reopen on May 21. With Typhoon Lagoon reopening May 1, this will mark the first time both water parks have been open at Disney World since 2019. As a reminder, Disney resort guests can visit a water park for free on their check-in day.
We’ve lamented and criticized Disney over the past few years about their decision to keep one water park closed over the summer. The decision always seemed to be based on budgets rather than guest satisfaction. Now, we’re seeing Disney reverse course and keep both water parks open. What changed?
We think Disney is finally showing signs that they’re worried about Universal’s Epic Universe opening in May. Between this announcement and the testing of a returning resort perk (resort airline check-in!), we think Disney is feeling the heat and trying to improve the guest experience.
