Walt Disney World is getting ready to celebrate its 50th anniversary on October 1, 2021. Ahead of the official anniversary date, Disney hasn’t released too much information on what celebrations will take place on the date itself. Will fireworks commemorate the anniversary?
It’s reported that currently there are no plans to shoot off fireworks on October 1. However, that’s subject to change as Disney continues to evaluate its safety protocols.
Disney insider Martin Smith spoke about the fluid situation.
“As things stand currently there are no plans for fireworks on October 1. Currently.“
It’s unclear when fireworks will return to Walt Disney World. Guests are becoming more optimistic that nighttime fireworks are on the horizon as vaccines roll out, and it’s quite possible that Walt Disney World will welcome back fireworks well before October 1. But that decision will depend on vaccination rates and what safety guidelines are still in place at that time.
Disney will need to finalize its 50th anniversary plans in the very near future. October 1 may be several months away, but the planning needed to pull off additions to a show like Happily Ever After or debuting an anniversary tag will require significant time.
Stay tuned. We sincerely hope Disney is able to safely bring back fireworks to Walt Disney World in the near future.
