Rumor: Disney is surveying guests about a name for a new resort near Fort Wilderness

Date:

UPDATE: We now know this is in regards to the new nature-themed resort coming to Disney World in 2022.

Back in March, we talked about permits being filed for the old River Country water park location that were tied to a mysterious Project 89. The rumored idea was that Disney was exploring this location to turn it into a new resort located near the Fort Wilderness campsites.

Now, a new report suggests Disney is surveying guests about possible names for a future resort for this location. Keep in mind that Disney has not confirmed a new project, nor have we personally seen the surveys themselves. This is a rumor at this stage.

Len Testa, a known Disney insider, discussed the surveys in a recent message board post.

Guest surveys recently went out asking about potential names for this development. The one I’ve seen proposes “Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Resort.”

While we don’t know what other names were included in the survey, the one that Len did mention matches Disney’s recent trend of lengthy names that carry a descriptor.

A new resort in this location could completely alter the look and feel of the Fort Wilderness area. Something small and subtle, think opposite of the tower going up at Coronado Springs, might fit into the area as long as nature still plays a prominent role. That feeling of being in a natural, wooded setting is part of the resort’s appeal for many guests.

The name that was mentioned,ย Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Resort, kind of sounds like a tribute to the current nighttime show at Epcot, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. Keep in mind that though Disney is surveying about names, it doesn’t guarantee that any of the names will be used or that the project will even move forward. Surveys about a name change at Hollywood Studios went out not too long ago, but ultimately Disney decided to stick with the current name for the foreseeable future.
