Walt Disney World Monorails updated with new nighttime lighting

Date:

The Walt Disney World Monorail received a fun new enhancement in honor of the 50th anniversary. Each Monorail train has been fitted with glowing lights that match the train’s color.

The effect is simple but extremely cool.

In case you’re wondering, Monorail Black doesn’t just turn all the lights off. It was fitted with lights that create a purple blacklight effect. Monorail Black makes an appearance about 20 seconds into this video below.

This, along with the stunning nighttime transformation of Spaceship Earth, are our favorite new enhancements for the 50th anniversary. It’s great that Disney was able to keep this bit of magic under wraps. We’d love to see this change stick around after the anniversary.
