Video: Waterspout Spotted Off the Coast of Castaway Cay

Updated:

Guests visiting Disney Cruise Line’s tropical paradise Castaway Cay saw some memorable weather this weekend. A waterspout formed just off the coast of Castaway Cay, creating an unforgettable scene.

Guests on Castaway Cay captured video of the waterspout spinning just in the distance behind the Disney Dream.

Another angle of the waterspout.

Waterspouts are tornados that form over water instead of land. Like a tornado, they feature strong winds and can be accompanied by heavy rain and hail.

Despite being the perfect tropical paradise, Castaway Cay is no stranger to severe storms. Thankfully, waterspouts near the island aren’t extremely common. Guests visiting Castaway Cay should always keep an eye on the weather as tropical storms can develop quickly and with little notice.
