Video: Introducing Augustus, the baby hippo at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Date:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has finally revealed some information regarding the baby hippo who was born at the theme park back in January.

Named Augustus, the baby boy hippo was the first hippo born in the park in 13 years. More impressively, he already weighs 163 pounds! Augustus’ birth also represents an important step forward in the effort to protect the dwindling population ofย Nile hippos.

If you’re lucky, you may see Augustus during a ride onย Kilimanjaro Safaris. Your best bet to get a good view of him is to take a safari when the animals are most active (usually close to park opening and late in the day when the temperatures cool) and to sit on the far side, or driver’s side, of the truck.
