Theme park hours will be shortened when Walt Disney World reopens

Date:

Walt Disney World’s official reopening plan will see the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom open on July 11 before Epcot and Hollywood Studios open on July 15. Following the announcement, Walt Disney World’s online calendar was updated to reflect the new reopening dates as well as new reduced operating hours.

Summarized, some theme parks will be closing a bit earlier while others will be opening a bit later.

Reduced Disney World Theme Park Hours:

Magic Kingdom: 9am to 7pm

Animal Kingdom: 8am to 6pm

Epcot: 11am to 9pm

Hollywood Studios: 10am to 8pm

The reduced nighttime hours come as Disney has announced that fireworks shows and evening entertainment will be temporarily suspended when the parks first reopen. Disney is trying to avoid large groups of guests crowding into one area, which is nearly impossible to prevent during their nighttime spectaculars.

Walt Disney World’s reopening plan will require reservations for the parks, masks for guests and cast members, social distancing protocols and a significant reduction in entertainment. The reservation system hasn’t been completely revealed as of the date of this article, but based on the initial capacity rumors, it sounds like park hopping may not be possible for the foreseeable future.
