Disney recently announced that the main entrance at Epcot will undergo some serious changes in the near future. The overhaul of the main entrance will see the addition of more landscaping, altered walkways and the removal of the Leave a Legacy tiles.
Currently, the Leave a Legacy tiles are mounted on large granite monoliths located just in front of Spaceship Earth. The 30 granite monoliths range in height from three to 19 feet. They have been criticized for taking up too much space, forcing guests to weave around and through them when entering Epcot.
The tiles mounted on the stones feature the likeness of over half a million guests who participated in the program that started during the Millennium Celebration in 1999 and ran until 2007.
With the main entrance evolving, Disney has stated that the Leave a Legacy tiles will be relocated.
“Exciting changes are coming to the Epcot main entrance! As part of this new experience, Leave A Legacy will move into a beautiful setting just outside the park’s gateway. Additional details will be announced at a later date.”

Currently, it’s believed that only the tiles will be relocated. The large granite monoliths are expected to disappear entirely during the transition. No official details have been revealed regarding what the new home of the Leave a Legacy tiles will look like.
