Disney has announced some new dining updates at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The former Wave… of American Flavors will become the brand new Steakhouse 71, a casual-themed restaurant. Meanwhile, California Grill will debut a limited-time menu honoring the restaurant’s history.
Below is the full announcement from Disney:
“We’re cooking up new experiences at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration!” Located just off the lobby, Steakhouse 71 will be a new casual-themed dining concept that gets its name from the resort’s opening year and will be open in time for the celebration. Upstairs at California Grill, a new dining experience will also be available later this year, featuring a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history. Stay tuned for more details!”
It sounds like both Steakhouse 71 and the new menu at California Grill will honor the resort and Walt Disney World’s opening in 1971. So far, Disney has only shared a picture of a monstrous slice of chocolate cake (pictured above) and no other menu details. It’s not clear if any of the guest favorites from The Wave… of American Flavors will make the menu.
Both dining experiences are expected to open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary on October 1, 2021.
