A large shade structure has been added above a portion of the outdoor queue for Slinky Dog Dash at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The themed covering was installed in an effort to address some of the complaints about the lack of shade found throughout the land.
For reference, the new shade covering can be found to the left of the entrance to Slinky Dog Dash when you’re facing the attraction. It covers the portion of the outdoor queue that runs near the path where guests exit the ride.
While this is a great addition for guests encountering a lengthy wait for Slinky Dog Dash, it’s a bit strange that a large section of the outdoor queue is still unprotected. Disney may add additional coverings in the future, but it seems like they’d try to complete the shade addition in one swoop.
It also remains to be seen if Disney will add more shade in other areas of Toy Story Land in the future. The land as a whole can become quite the furnace on the hottest of summer days due to the relentless sun. It’d be great to see more themed awnings / coverings added over some of the main walkways, and for shade to become an item that’s considered a bit more when Disney is designing new lands.
