Rise of the Resistance will open first in Walt Disney World on December 5th, 2019

Updated:

An official opening date has been announced for the Rise of the Resistance attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The ride will first open in Walt Disney World on December 5th, 2019 before later opening in Disneyland on January 17th, 2020.

The Disney Parks Blog noted that the December 5th date is a special way of honoring Walt Disney’s birthday that also falls on the same day.

The Rise of the Resistance attraction is believed to be the true star of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, featuring the most ambitious and immersive experience seen in a Disney theme park. The scale of the attraction sounds unbelievable and promises to offer an incredible experience for guests. That’s important following some conflicting reviews that have emerged from the Smugglers Run attraction.

It’s fairly interesting that Walt Disney World’s will open before the version out in Disneyland. Rumors have suggested that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World has been an all hands on deck operation while Disneyland’s has been a bit more relaxed. While this would explain Walt Disney World’s opening first, it’d also explain the delay seen with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
