Regular ‘Festival of the Lion King’ Show Returns July 16 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Updated:

Tumble monkey fans rejoice! The regular version of the Festival of the Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom returns July 16, 2022.

The abbreviated show, A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King, will end its run on July 4, 2022. No shows will be performed between July 5-15, 2022 as preparations are made for the regular show to return.

When Festival of the Lion King returns, so too will the beloved tumble monkeys and the acrobatic birds. Guests haven’t seen the tumble monkeys since the show originally closed back in 2020. The acrobatic birds have been performing at ground level, but will return to their high-flying acrobatics starting July 16.

The shift from the modified show to the regular show represents yet another return to normal at Walt Disney World. Things aren’t returning quite as quickly as we’d like (we miss you, Fantasmic!), but this is still encouraging news for the busy summer season.
