Photos: New covered patio at Cosmic Ray’s in the Magic Kingdom

Updated:

A new covered patio for Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe has opened at the Magic Kingdom. The area offers additional outdoor covered seating for guests dining at the restaurant.

The photos, courtesy of WDWTraveler over on WDWMagic.com, show that the area is larger than the original patio and offers a nice reprieve from the sun. Ceiling fans are in place to assist in keeping diners cool during the warmest Florida days.

The new area increases the overall capacity of Cosmic Ray’s, which already has a very large indoor seating area as well as another outdoor area. However, it raises the question as to why Disney doesn’t use the Tomorrowland Terrace area for dining prior to their fireworks dessert parties. That location typically sits idle during the day rather than providing another location for the Magic Kingdom’s enormous crowds to eat.

Cosmic Ray’s was already the most popular quick service location within the Magic Kingdom, but now it can seat even more guests with their expanded outdoor area.
