New Masai giraffe calf born on the Kilimanjaro Safari Savanna

Updated:

It was a special day on the Kilimanjaro Safari Savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A new Masai giraffe calf was born on the Savana on the afternoon of January 14, 2019.

Guests riding Kilimanjaro Safari saw that the mother giraffe, named Mara, was in labor. Just a few hours later the new calf entered the world. Talk about an experience those guests will never forget!

Disney mentioned in the announcement that the calf and mother are already bonding and that they hope to release more information soon. No name has been officially revealed for the new calf, but it is possible Disney will ask the public to help pick a name as they recently did for another baby giraffe.
