The iconic lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World will be changing in 2023. In an article outlining refurbishments and changes at many of Walt Disney World’s resorts, Disney announced that “new enhancements” were coming to the flagship resort’s lobby.
Disney is currently renovating the rooms at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and that refurbishment will extend to the lobby.
From the Disney Parks Blog:
The resort has been receiving some grand touches that weave familiar storybook charm into the Victorian elegance of this flagship resort. Guest rooms are currently being updated as we speak with more to come as the beloved Grand Floridian ushers in its third decade of magic. The ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby, which will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.
“New enhancements” is a worrisome phrase for die-hard Disney fans. The lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is memorable thanks to its birdcage elevators and grandeur theming. Unfortunately, Disney removed one of the most fun features of the Grand Floridian lobby – The Grand Floridian Society Orchestra – back in 2020. Still, the lobby carries on much of the same power it had when it first opened back in 1988.
Disney has previously added light character touches at the resort through the Enchanted Rose Lounge, which sits just off the lobby. It’s unclear if the new enhancements will feature characters or if it will more closely resemble the refurbishment of the lobby at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – one we think Disney knocked out of the park.
Let’s just hope the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort still looks as awesome as ever during the holidays after these enhancements.
