Huge crowds arrive for the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Disney fans showed up in huge numbers this morning in the hopes of riding Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, the newest attraction at Walt Disney World and the first ride to feature Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Despite fears surrounding the coronavirus, enormous crowds arrived before Hollywood Studios opened in an effort to be among the first in line.

Early wait times soared to 300 minutes for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The line for the attraction stretched out of the Chinese Theatre and down Sunset Boulevard. Blog Mickey provided a great look at the gigantic line that had a posted 5-hour wait.

Directional signs were used around Hollywood Studios in an effort to help guests find Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land and merchandise for the attraction’s opening.

The real test will be to see what the waits for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be after the initial buzz for the attraction dies down. The reported capacity for the ride is relatively high, but it should still draw huge waits due to the fact it’s a high-profile attraction the entire family can enjoy in a park that’s slanted a bit towards more intense attractions.
