“Hey, Disney!” will be a voice assistant added to Walt Disney World resort rooms

Updated:

Disney has announced a new partnership with Amazon that they’re calling “Hey, Disney!” This new project builds on Amazon’s Alexa technology and will allow Walt Disney World resort guests and Disney fans at home to interact with familiar characters.

“Hey, Disney!” will also allow resort guests to obtain information and make guest service requests. They can ask about theme park times or even ask for extra towels for their room. The voice assistants are expected to be installed inside resort rooms beginning next year.

Here’s more from Disney’s announcement:

“Whether youโ€™re at home or in one of our Walt Disney World Resort hotel rooms, soon youโ€™ll be able to use an Echo device to interact with your favorite Disney, Pixar or Star Wars characters. โ€œHey, Disney!โ€ will make your vacation easier, more meaningful and more fun โ€ฆ and it will entertain and delight you when youโ€™re at home, too. It raises the bar for immersive storytelling with authentic character voices, unique audio environments inspired by our films and destinations, and more than a thousand magical interactions to discover โ€“ so you can expect a few surprises!”

Disney has been working on the “Hey, Disney!” concept for quite some time. Smart speakers were originally tested in resort rooms back in February 2019.

This seems like a great addition to Walt Disney World resort rooms, assuming the information is accurate and regularly updated. We’d much rather ask “When does Epcot open tomorrow?” than hunt through the app to find the answer.

More information on “Hey, Disney!” will be released in the near future.
