Guardians of the Galaxy building starting to rise in Epcot

The new building that will house a portion of the Guardians of the Galaxy ride is starting to rise in Epcot. Steel framing for the building that will sit just behind the old Universe of Energy building may now be seen in certain areas of Epcot.

The image at the top of the page, courtesy of @bioreconstruct, shows the early stages of steel being added. It also shows some of the roof work taking place on the old Wonders of Life pavilion.

The new building is expected to house a large portion of the indoor coaster while the old Universe of Energy building contains the beginning and end of the ride, as well as the queue. There was some belief that the coaster itself would rise up first with the building then being added around it, but that doesn’t appear to be the case at this time.

The Guardians of the Galaxy coaster is supposed to be one of the longest indoor coasters in the world and is expected to open by 2021.
