Update: Finding Nemo: The Musical will be reimagined at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney has announced that a new show based on the characters will debut in 2022. This statement comes a day after cast members shared the show had been permanently closed.
From Disney’s announcement:
Although our Disney Live Entertainment team is still in the early stages of development for the show, the musical retelling of this underwater tale of family, friendship and kindness will feature new story material, as well as fan favorite songs such as “In the Big Blue World” and “Go with the Flow.”
It’ll be interesting to see how the new version of Finding Nemo: The Musical compares to the original. We’d wager the new show will be a bit shorter than its predecessor. We also hope the talented cast members from the original are brought back when it’s time to debut the updated show.
Original Story:
Cast members have been informed that Finding Nemo: The Musical will not reopen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The show did not return when Walt Disney World reopened, and was kept dark when Festival of the Lion King resumed.
Some of the show’s cast members shared their feelings on social media.

It’s always sad when a show closes at Walt Disney World. This is especially true at a time when entertainment is sorely lacking around the theme parks. A new show is supposedly being developed for the theatre, but that doesn’t make up for the time where it sits empty.
Disney’s lack of emphasis on entertainment offerings while simultaneously raising prices is disappointing. Crowds have returned to normal, and yet many Walt Disney World offerings are closed. The inconsistency on what’s available appears to be driven by budgets rather than safety.
Our thoughts go out to all the cast members who performed in Finding Nemo: The Musical over the years.
