It’s time for an update on the Journey of Water walkthrough attraction at Epcot. The Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, was originally announced in August 2019. It’s been over two years since that announcement, so is this new addition taking shape?
A new aerial picture from @bioreconstruct reveals that the Journey of Water has a long way to go before it opens. The area is a massive construction site and has few distinguishable features. For reference, this area sits roughly between Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
The yellow arrow indicates the top of an underground tunnel that ran by the former Innoventions West. The curved cement foundation is all that remains of the old Innoventions West structure following its demolishment.
The concept art for the Journey of Water depicts water features and lush landscaping. The walkthrough attraction has been described as a maze where “guests interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting.”
Disney has not announced when the Journey of Water will officially open. We expect the area will be completed in 2022, barring any delays.
