Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will remain closed until March 7, 2021 when one will reopen

Updated:

The water parks at Walt Disney World will remain closed for an extended period of time. Disney has announced that both Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be closed until March 7, 2021. At that time, only one of the water parks will welcome back guests.

Below is the announcement from Disney:

While Disneyโ€™s Blizzard Beach water park and Disneyโ€™s Typhoon Lagoon water park remain closed at this time, pending government approvals, we currently plan to reopen one of the two Disney water parks on March 7, 2021.

Like the other areas of Walt Disney World Resort, we will welcome back Guests and Cast Members to our water parks in a responsible way, with a plan focused on health and well-being. We will provide more details on our phased reopening plan, including a decision on the specific water park that will be reopening first, at a later time. This reopening date may change and if it does, we will let Guests know what to expect in a future update.

Disney notes that the reopening date is subject to change. A lot can happen between now and March. Details surrounding which water park will reopen and what safety procedures guests should expect will be discussed at a later date.

Assuming either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach is able to open in March 2021, it will mark almost a full year that the water parks have been closed at Walt Disney World.

The full announcement offers information for annual passholders and guests with tickets who are impacted by this news.
