Disney has announced that the Walt Disney World College Program has been suspended until further notice. Disney cited that while they are preparing to welcome guests back to their theme parks, the buildings that house College Program participants will remain closed and a reopening date hasn’t been scheduled at this time.
The notice, which was emailed to participants, stated that Disney has officially withdrawn employment offers and will refund any program fees.
Recognizing the immense disappointment this announcement will cause, Disney will adjust the requirements for the College Program when it resumes in the future. Individuals who have recently graduated will be welcome to re-apply.
This announcement matches the report from a local union representative who said the College Program won’t immediately resume. That statement was made on the basis that Disney will be trying their best to find hours for all of their full-time and part-time cast members while they operate under reduced capacity. The reduced operations eliminates the need for College Program participants at this time.
