Disney Begins Testing TRON Lightcycle Run’s Illuminated Canopy

Updated:

TRON Lightcycle Run has hit a big milestone at the Magic Kingdom. Disney has started testing the lighting that will illuminate TRON’s recognizable canopy. Guests visiting Tomorrowland can see Walt Disney Imagineering testing and programming the more than 1,200 fixtures that light up the canopy.

Walt Disney Imagineering shared a look of the canopy on Instagram.

We also have some video of TRON Lightcycle Run from the PeopleMover.

Even though the lights are still being tested, we can already see that TRON Lightcycle Run is going to look awesome at night. There’s no question that Tomorrowland and many of the views around Magic Kingdom will be forever changed.

TRON Lightcycle Run doesn’t have an opening date at this time, but we’d expect an update from Disney in the near future. Maybe a date will be announced during the Parks presentation of the D23 Expo?
