Cars show with Lightning McQueen coming to Hollywood Studios

A new show is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in early 2019. “Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy” will come to Sunset Showcase near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, providing a new Cars experience for guests who love Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Cruz Ramirez and others.

Here’s some additional information from the press release:

“At Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, located near Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you’ll come face-to-face with racing legend Lightning McQueen, who is excited to showcase what he’s learned over the years with you – the next generation of rookie racers. Of course, as Lightning McQueen has discovered throughout his career, things don’t always go according to plan, and he has to think fast to get back on course.”

Unfortunately, we don’t have too many details on the new Cars-themed show. The location, Sunset Showcase, isn’t a very large space, but it is one that has been sitting mostly idle ever since the Club Disney and Club Villain ideas fizzled out.

Given the size of the space where the show will go, and the fact it’s an indoor location, it’s doubtful Disney will be rolling out actual functioning cars. A more screen-based attraction makes more sense, but we’ll have to wait for additional details.

It’s great to see Disney beefing up their experiences for guests at Hollywood Studios ahead of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
