Disneyland’s “it’s a small world” attraction is receiving a bit of an update for the park’s 70th anniversary. The iconic “it’s a small world” song will receive a new verse written by Richard Sherman before he passed away. The ride’s song will be updated for guests to enjoy beginning July 17, 2025.
The verse is Sherman’s last contribution to Disney, and will serve as the song’s third and final verse. Sherman’s goal was to further the song’s influence ahead of the ride’s 60th anniversary in May 2026.
Disney released a video celebrating the Sherman Brothers and revealing the new verse.
Below is Sherman’s new “it’s a small world” verse.
“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
Beautiful. The Sherman Brothers were immensely talented, and were behind many of Disney’s most iconic songs. From Mary Poppins to The Jungle Book, the Sherman Brothers were part of the fabric of Disney. It’s incredibly touching that “it’s a small world” and its earworm of a song will be given new life after all these years.
