How long is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

Updated:

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open to guests on March 4, 2020 and will take over as the marquee attraction within the Chinese Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Following in the footsteps of The Great Movie Ride, how does Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway compare in terms of overall length?

The ride measures in at about 4 minutes and 30 seconds in total length from start to stop, not counting the pre-show scenes guests see prior to loading into the ride vehicle. Those pre-show scenes come in around one minute and 30 seconds in length.

Compared to The Great Movie Ride, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway comes no where close to the old attraction’s length, which was about 20 minutes – give or take a minute or two. That’s not a total surprise as The Great Movie Ride originated in an era where Disney was more willing to create lengthy experiences. Remember Epcot’s Universe of Energy and its 45-minute experience? They definitely don’t make them like they used to.

In terms of capacity, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway should still have strong numbers. The ride vehicles have eight rows with room for four guests per row.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will add a needed family-friendly attraction with solid capacity to a theme park that has desperately needed such an attraction.
